“I have been cleaning the city since 1997. Even though it´s not easy to earn a lot in my field I managed to get a steady contract. Some people might be surprised but I really love my work. Through the years I met many interesting people and every day is different from the other. It feels good to support my family financially. A few years ago I was even able to buy an apartment for me, my wife and our girl. I really consider myself a happy man.”

Her mum tried to keep her by her side but she was unstoppable. Right after I took their photo this little pumpkin ran up to me and gave me a big fat hug.

“I place promotional posters all over the city for a living. In Amsterdam its basically forbidden to do so. When you put up a poster you need to be fast so you won’t get caught. But even if you do, in the worst case you get a ticket. It´s a small scene. We all know each other each other. When new members enter we always make sure we get together so we don’t get into each other´s territories. I tried to study several times but I guess I am just not the type to go to school.”

“Growing up I didn’t have a lot of money so I was never able to travel outside of London. One year ago I took a big step and I got on a plane to visit my girlfriend in Australia. I wasn’t afraid of the flight but to leave my family behind and not knowing what to expect was terrifying. Once I got there I absolutely loved it. Coming to Amsterdam was a big challenge for me. As a 25 year old I want to be able to travel all by myself. I won’t let my fear for the unknown become stronger than my curiosity for traveling and discovering new places.”
